It is amazing how much fitness can improve drumming. Inspired partly by fantastic drummer Simon Barker's blog on barefoot running I have taken to running five times a week, slowly transitioning to longer distances and minimal drop footwear. The increase in fitness is allowing me more spare capacity to think whilst playing, more headroom. The increased work of the low drop footwear is helping my foot speed on the kit.
More importantly it is great fun! I use The Running Bug to keep track and get feedback from other runners.
On the drumming front I am currently taking great inspiration from Billy Martins new book Wandering and its great cd.
